Antibacterial Activity and the Mechanism of the Z-Scheme Bi2MoO6/Bi5O7I Heterojunction under Visible Light

Z-scheme Bi2MoO6/Bi5O7I heterojunction was constructed by an in situ solvothermal method, which composed of Bi2MoO6 nanosheets growing on the surface Bi5O7I microrods. The antibacterial activities under illumination towards Escherichia coli (E. coli) were investigated. composites exhibited more outstanding performance than pure and Bi5O7I, E. (108 cfu/mL) completely inactivated BM/BI-3 90 min irradiation. Additionally, experiment adding scavengers revealed that h+, •O2− •OH played important role inactivation process. cell membrane damaged oxidation •OH, intracellular components (K+, DNA) subsequently released, ultimately triggered apoptosis cell. enhanced is due to formation with effective charge transfer via well-contacted interface Bi5O7I. This study provides useful guidance how construct Bi5O7I-based for water disinfection abundant solar energy.
